You do not need to go to the gym to get fit first. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic and fun way to get healthy, fit and learn to defend yourself.
Just like the headquarters in California, we have a no barrier policy between men and women. However we understand this can be a problem for some women. If this is the case, we recommend you start with the Women’s Combatives beginner program. As you build confidence you can move to the co-ed classes. You also have the option to partner up with women even in co-ed class.
Gracie Academy provides all training equipment and uniforms necessary. You can also bring your own undershirt or dry fit (Rashguard) to class if you’d like. Rashguard Colors should be either all black, all white or navy blue. If you’d like to bring your own Gi to class, please bring an all white one with minimal patches.
Please arrive 15 minutes early for a tour, uniform fitting and registration process.
Bring your own water bottle if necessary. We also have water, coffee and fresh smoothies available for sale.
Confidence. By knowing you can comfortably defend yourself in any situation, you are more likely to avoided the fights you once thought unavoidable. In a sense, we learn to fight so we never have to.
Yes! Anyone can do Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, therefore anyone can be your training partner. Keep in mind that since most of the techniques were designed to work on larger opponents, when you are practicing it does help to train with someone around your size or larger.
